I started a series of videos on my youtube channel that I hope to keep up with on a regular basis – hopefully weekly.
It’s called GS COVERS.
The idea is to get some really famous Pop, Rock, mainstream songs and bring them closer to the musical universe I like to gravitate towards.
There are so many great songs out there and I was thinking about the fact that great music is just great music – it goes beyond styles and conventions.
I’ve been genuinely curious about finding out what makes a lot of these songs great – is that a catchy riff, a cool chord progression, a great melody?
I’ve been discovering a lot of these things lately while playing some of them.
The first one I decided to try something on is a great song that has been on my radar for quite a while now –
A Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton.
I first heard this song in one of these popcorn Hollywood movies and it caught me by surprise. The main riff couldn’t get out of my head..
There was something very cool about this song that kept me hooked – also the arrangement was super nice and after I recently dove into the song and started playing it I definitely liked the song even more.
So there you go, A THOUSAND MILES by Vanessa Carlton.. Hope you dig it!
Let me know what you think and also let me know which songs you would like to see me record next!!
It would be cool to get your feedback and make it really interactive…
